Personally I like Frenzy the way it is structured. We just need like 10 more people to make it lively.

No you don't, this is the same thing PoM was, you only need 2 people to make it lively, 4 to make it a crowd 1000-3000 posts per day!

I don't get in here often enough. I will try, but I'm usually busy. Next week I don't have many hours at work, so maybe then. I have 2 days off next week! It's amazing!

Well, Nick, in English class the only important things are vocabulary and real literature. The grammar is useless after a certain point. I think what's important is having to read so many stories and books. The more you read, more power to you.
Latin helps you to guess the meaning of a word. Vocabulary helps you to know the meanings of words. |

Hmm. I guess I'm skeptical because it's different from the throw-it-in-your-face teaching that they do in most other classes.

Well, I strongly believe that English words are really powerful because slight differences in meanings or connotations can hold a whole different effect. The English language is one of the, if not THE, richest language on the face of this planet. For instance, I cannot stand reading stuff in Indo language cos it holds a completely different effect. Of course, there's no need knowing the words that nobody uses, except for fun, because if you use those words you'll be labeled as a pedant.
On a sidenote, with peer editing I can see how people put in "advanced" words in their essays without even knowing how to use them properly. "Myriads of numbers" makes me wanna laugh. |

There is, however, one word that I learned this year; I also noticed that it's used everywhere.
"Exacerbate." Oh, and "defenestrate" actually has a plausable background. It used to be that, traditionally, people expressed their discontent with the current government by throwing the officers out of the window. This happening at Prague started the Thirty Years' War. |

Exacerbate is a good word. I just had a nice word for Pid the other day but I forgot what it was. Oh well. If I can remember I will post it.

I've noticed my English is just getting worse too. My writing was better in grade six than it is now.
... I used to post some in here on meganium... I guess I've lost all respect for making real posts on this account. So what the heck, I'll post in here. |

Frenzy for me has just about always been about posting un-reply-able messages. Quite simply because each person in this forum has a limited concept of things to discuss. Because of this they will tend to discuss the same things; though not the necessarily the same topics, but with the same feelings, inclinations, and mindset. And thus, some people will always discuss things I could never reply to, and much of what I could discuss would never find an audience in here. Therefore many of us tend toward spamming, a cheapened version of the fast-talk that ought to exist here.
The foremost problem is many of us have become either too busy or too...ahhh... accustomed? to the board and because of this we feel there are fewer topics to discuss, as well as being too lazy to reply to things where we feel as though we're just repeating ourselves. Also, the few amount of posters leads a hollow feeling to those who do try to reply in here. That is, if I bother to go on and explain something, if the people after me don't reply, then I feel very little desire to bother discussing something again, knowing full well that the next person either won't exist, will change the topic, or reply with drivel; all of which kill the conversational ideal of these topics. Additionally, it doesn't help that members are rarely on at the same time to make conversation possible to begin with. I agree that English class has been pretty well worthless. In the young years up to about 4th grade basic grammar was learned, which most people don't hold onto unless they read. Seventh grade was useful in learning how to write properly. And 10th grade was the most useful, covering a range of things, particularly common mistakes people make, advanced vocabulary and sentence structure, *yawn* Well yeah, public school is dull except for electives. |

While we're contemplating the state of Frenzy, I think it's necessary to say that while there have been much fewer posts, those posts have become longer and somewhat more involved. There's very little spam still posted here. Frenzy has kind of transformed.
