Are you religious? If so, do you define yourself as part of any one religion? I believe i am a Christian, but non-denominational, and i believe in other aspects of life that aren't totally christian.

Is Atheist considered a religion? =/ Anyway, I'm not part of one simply beacuse I don't believe in the official definitions of a god. The mere fact that I don't believe in it doesn't mean that it's an universal truth, ne?

No, atheism is a lack of religion. If you do not believe in a supernatural god-type being, then you are not religious, and therefore atheist.

No, there was an option for "other, please explain" and I think that is an acceptable place to say that you are not religious. Can't have people assuming that the people who don't vote are Christians. We must be heard! Yeah, anyway...

Ooooo, toughie... I am not so much a "religious" person as I am a "spiritual" person. I would say that I'm a Christian, but I really don't know if I can call myself that since I'm not a practicing Christian. I believe in a divine power...at least something bigger than myself, but I prefer to connect to and worship that power privately and individually instead of with a bunch of people in a church.
A lot of this has to do with my upbringing, I think. My parents never made me and my brother go to church...nor did they ever take us to church. When I was in elementary school, the kids and adults in my community made me feel like if I didn't know anything about the Bible or go to church like they all did, then I would go to hell. That really scared me. So I started to go with my friends to church (I've experience just about EVERY denomination), and I started to read the Bible in my spare time, but as I grew older, I became cynical about the pressure I had felt from my church-going community to conform. So I guess I rebelled, in a way, against organized religion by not giving it a second chance. That's the long and the short of it. ~Tara~  |

I'm atheist. I don't consider it a religion. It's just a personal opinion disagreeing with the bible(any for that matter), organized religion, and in God or Satan themselves.

Perhaps not those paralleling any organized religion, perhaps even those that would be regarded by others as unconventional, or even evil. But they exist, nevertheless. ex. Let's say 'Peter' believes in working for himself, to the exclusion of all others. He has a principle of belief, that of self-empowerment. From a Christian standpoint, this would be considered selfish, but from his own it would be considered normal. Now I'm not bagging on Christianity, I'm just (trying to) illustrating the subjectiveness of faith. So we all have principles we try and uphold. Otherwise...what's the point of living, if we can't create a concept of self? At one time I considered myself an athiest. But to me that just means my beliefs do not mesh perfectly with what we consider 'organized religion'. |

I'm not quite sure how to explain this. I don't believe in organized religions and junk. I do believe in God/Satan however. I think that religions were made so that people could have a way to vent and actually have something that seems to make their life meaningful. Make any sense?

i am pagan, but i dont worship anything. my mom is jewish, but is athiest, my dad was born baptist but now is athiest. Brother of Uma is athiest...i think maybe he is really agnostic in a way. i am pagan because i see the earth and the cycles and i find meaning in this above the ordinary, but i do not ascribe it to a deity. i see the earth and i think of the maxim: As above, so below.
