Yea actually come to think of it. Survival, in extreme conditions might very well benefit from this actio!

There was this quest in TES Oblivion where you were locked inside a house with a few unsuspecting people, in a "game", or a party if you please, to find money and, with that, the key to the mansion, which you'd then use to leave. Only the winner of this little event would leave with the prize money.
That's what all the guests at the party knew anyways. But what they didn't know was what I was doing there. Shifting blame is a rather accurate description.
See, I started killing them - one, by one - and at the same time making the surviving ones suspicious of eachother being the murderer while the blame was squarely off my back. In the end, only me and 2 other fellows were left, so obviously as a result of my shifting of blame I made one of them pretty sure that the other fellow murdered everyone, which promptly made them fight in a desperate duel to the death...
At that point there was obvious relief in the air and me and my new found buddy continued to search for the key which, had been secured in my pocket the whole time, as I was the professional assassin hired by the very host of this event.
And finally after reaching the basement in search of the long lost key, his hour was up as I stabbed him in the back, with my fine longsword, still dripping from the blood of the unlucky guests!
