wow, some of that is your art!! do you really want people to edit your work? also, they should upload to their own server. those are great avs though and i dont consider that to be spam.

Nice topic!
People often ask me 'where the hell I find my avatars' =P
There is a site that is all about anime avatars. You can find it here;
fmc.animecity.nu/IconBar/~LIST/
The icons are all somewhat small in size, though
If you want some that are bigger, and have your own preferences as to which character you want, you can always get decent avatars from wallapers, regular pictures and such.
All it requires is a picture, a program for cropping, re-sizing and converting whatever image it might be to .JPEG
Here is a bunch of links that have decent images you can.. rip. :P

A pretty good site. It lists anime names, so if you want a certain character, it's benefecial that you know which anime the character comes from.

Excellent site. All the pictures are from wallapers (look at the link, DUH) so you'll need some cropping skillz for that. =)

This site is hot, so if you want some ecchi avatars, this is the place. XD
I'll post some more links as I remember.

Also, on a side note, if you want your avatar to be larger than the average 60x60, you must put in a height and width code. Like so
[your avatar URL here] Height= xx Width=xx
